Qualcuno di voi ha l'edizione italiana di "Mogambo", che uscì anni fa? Un amico mi disse che era tecnicamente pessima; da quel che ho potuto "assaggiare", questa in R1 è ottima... Magari confrontiamo degli snapshot.

Americana nuova. Ho esitato un po' perché speravo di mettere le mani prima o poi sull'edizione Kitchen Sink, ma poi, visto il prezzo irrisorio della Checker... Piccolo formato, ma la traduzione del mio amico Francesco Spreafico, che ho praticamente seguito passo passo, è l'UNICA fedele.
Per le fotorece, purtroppo non ho proprio tempo: il periodo estivo è quello in cui posso scrivere un po' di più, e le scedenze si fanno vicinissime. Ma farò lo stesso qualcosa di molto "veloce" per gli ultimi acquisti, che in effetti sono favolosi.

Warner Home Video has announced the October 31st release of The Tarzan Collection Volume 2 (MSRP $39.92), which contains the last six Tarzan films featuring Johnny Weissmuller, the Olympic swimmer who made the role of Edgar Rice Burrough's jungle king his own. These six films, which feature Brenda Joyce as Jane, were never available on videocassette and are new to DVD.
The first two films in the collection, Tarzan Triumphs (1943) and Tarzan's Desert Mystery (1943), were both made during World War II and, of course, the Ape-Man eventually joins the cause and helps put down the Axis. In Tarzan and the Amazons (1945) Tarzan refuses to lead a group of anthropologists to an all-female tribe, but Boy does and Tarzan has to bail him out.
Tarzan has to take on an evil leopard cult in Tarzan and the Leopard Woman (1946), while he once again battles evil big game hunters in Tarzan and the Huntress (1947) and Weissmuller gets to show off his formidable aquatic skills in his farewell turn, Tarzan and the Mermaids (1948).

RKO era una delle Major americane, attiva fino all'inizio degli anni '50. Alcuni suoi titoli sono stati distribuiti in Italia dalla ELLEU (edizioni de l'Unità) in base ad un accordo con la Rai, credo. La maggior parte dei titoli del catalogo RKO (fra cui Quarto potere) sono invece distribuiti in Italia dalla Fox. Fa eccezione King Kong, distribuito mi sembra dalla Sony.
Republic era fra le più importanti delle case minori, quelle della cosiddetta Poverty Row, ma vanta un certo numero di produzioni di estremo interesse, come alcuni film di Ford/Wayne.
Qui la situazione si fa ancora più ingarbugliata. I diritti negli USA sono di proprietà della Paramount ma in un recente topic dell'Home Theater Forum è venuto a galla che i diritti della distribuzione home video sono in mano alla Lion's Gate e dunque Paramount PARE che non abbia il diritto di pubblicare L'uomo tranquillo e altri titoli, in alcuni casi anche in corso di restauro.
I diritti di questi titoli per l'Italia sono sicuramente in possesso di qualcuno... ma non so di chi.
